In 2017, UFABC approved CONSUNI Resolution No. 182, of July 19, which guarantees quotas for refugees and asylum seekers who wish to enter graduation. Those interested must take the National High School Examination (ENEM) and enroll in the respective program through the Unified Selection System (SISU), according to the instructions available on the page on “how to study at UFABC”.
In addition, in 2021, Resolution No. 78 of the Graduate Commission was approved establishing the Affirmative Action Policy for access and permanence in the master and doctorate programs of the University, making it mandatory the reservation of places, among other modalities, for refugees and asylum seekers, to strengthen Affirmative Action Policies and academic-scientific training opportunities for all citizens.
Portuguese Language Courses
Since 2015, aiming at the reception, integration, and socialization of refugees, asylum seekers, humanitarian visa holders, as well as vulnerable migrants living in the ABC region, the Chair, currently supported by the Human Rights and International Relations Studies Group at UFABC (GEDHRI UFABC), through an outreach project, offers a Portuguese as a host language course for the referred groups, free and approved by the Ministry of Education (MEC). The course is called Nossa Casa, and takes place at the São Bernardo do Campo campus.
